Napoli is continuing to beef up their squad ahead of the 2025/2026 season. Their latest signing? Bologna defender Sam Beukema.
According to the club’s official site, Beukema joins Napoli in a deal worth €30 million, including bonuses. He’s signed a five-year contract and will earn €3 million a year.
Beukema is expected to strengthen Napoli’s already solid defense they had the best defensive record last season, conceding just 27 goals. With his arrival, Napoli’s total spending this transfer window has now topped €60 million.
He’s the fifth new face at Napoli this summer, joining Kevin De Bruyne, Luca Marianucci, Noa Lang, and Lorenzo Lucca. It’s a clear sign that Napoli means business and is serious about defending their Scudetto title.
The 26-year-old Dutchman played for Bologna since 2023, racking up 80 appearances, two goals, and three assists. He played a key role in their Coppa Italia win last season.
Beukema also stands out in the stats: over the past two years, he’s been one of the most consistent defenders in Serie A only Remo Freuler has played more and only two defenders, Giovanni Di Lorenzo and Evan Ndicka, have had better pass completion rates in that time.
“Thanks for everything, Sam. It’s been a great two years all the best for your next chapter,” Bologna said in their farewell message.
