There’s growing talk that Bayern Munich should go after Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain. Let’s face it Manuel Neuer can’t guard the goal forever. He’s already 39 and will be 40 by the time his contract runs out in the summer of 2026, so Bayern really needs to start thinking about the future between the sticks.
Right now, Bayern doesn’t really have a clear long-term successor for the legendary German keeper. Jonas Urbig is only 21, which is still pretty young, and the club needs someone with more experience.
Donnarumma, on the other hand, is back in top form after helping PSG win a treble in the 2024/2025 season. Plus, his contract only has a year left. That makes this the perfect time for Bayern to try and lure the former AC Milan star to Munich.
“I just don’t see Alexander Nubel playing for Bayern again too much has happened,” Dietmar Hamann told Sport BILD.
“I’m also not convinced that Urbig is ready to take over next season. He might be a good goalkeeper, but is he really Bayern’s number one?”
“Donnarumma’s going to be a free agent next summer. He’d be a great signing he’s only 26, so you’d get five or six solid years out of him,” Hamann added.
