Bayern Munich face a tough road ahead in their pursuit of Liverpool winger Luis Díaz, as their latest offer has been firmly rejected by the Premier League club.
Díaz has emerged as a key target for Bayern this summer as they look to strengthen their left wing, particularly with the potential departure of Leroy Sané. The German champions have already missed out on other top targets such as Florian Wirtz and Nico Williams, making Díaz a priority signing.
The Colombian international is reportedly open to a move and has informed Liverpool of his intention to leave this summer. His frustration stems from Liverpool’s reluctance to offer a contract extension. Although Díaz is under contract until 2027, the club is hesitant to offer long-term deals to players approaching the age of 30.
Bayern, on the other hand, are prepared to significantly increase his salary potentially doubling his current wage of around £140,000 per week.
Despite mutual interest between the player and Bayern, negotiations remain at an impasse. According to The Athletic, Liverpool recently turned down Bayern’s latest offer of £58.6 million, which falls short of the club’s valuation.
Liverpool are reportedly holding out for a fee closer to £86.4 million. Should Bayern meet that price, it would equal the club-record fee paid for Harry Kane two seasons ago.
For now, Bayern are unwilling to match Liverpool's asking price. As a result, Díaz is expected to remain with Liverpool and participate in their upcoming pre-season tour of Hong Kong and Japan later this month.
Since joining from FC Porto in January 2022 for £37.5 million, Díaz has scored 41 goals and provided 23 assists across all competitions for Liverpool.
