Barcelona and Real Mallorca have officially confirmed the transfer of midfielder Pablo Torre, with the announcement made in the early hours of Tuesday, July 15, 2025 (local time). The 22-year-old has decided to leave Camp Nou in pursuit of more regular playing time.
Despite showing flashes of promise under Hansi Flick, Torre found it difficult to break into Barcelona’s crowded midfield, competing against a wealth of established talent.
Over the course of three seasons with the Blaugrana including a loan spell at Girona Torre registered five goals and four assists in 27 appearances. Last season alone, he contributed to seven goals in just 421 minutes of action. However, the presence of players like Gavi, Fermin Lopez, and Dani Olmo continued to limit his opportunities.
Mallorca reportedly paid €5 million to secure Torre’s signature. As part of the deal, Barcelona retains 50% of any future sell-on fee, a buyback clause, and the right of first refusal should Mallorca decide to sell the player in the future. Additionally, Barcelona will receive a share of any capital gain from a future sale. Torre’s release clause at Mallorca has been set at €25 million.
Although Barcelona records a €1 million loss compared to the fee they initially paid to Racing Santander, the club remains optimistic about a potential financial upside if Torre’s development progresses.
Torre revealed that conversations with Mallorca head coach Jagoba Arrasate and sporting director Pablo Ortells played a key role in his decision to join the club. He had also attracted interest from several top European clubs, including Porto, Benfica, Valencia, and Real Betis.
“From the first video call I had with Arrasate and Ortells during the Euros, they showed great confidence in me and I needed that,” Torre told Mallorca’s official website. “I felt this could be the right step, and I’m really happy to be here.”
“My conversation with Arrasate was very positive. He explained his playing philosophy, and I’m aware of the high quality within this squad,” he added.
