Borussia Dortmund have strengthened their squad with the signing of Jobe Bellingham. The 19-year-old midfielder joins the German club from newly promoted Premier League side Sunderland on a five-year contract.
Jobe is the younger brother of Jude Bellingham, who previously rose to prominence at Dortmund before making a high-profile move to Real Madrid. During his three seasons in Germany, Jude scored 24 goals in 132 appearances for the club.
“Borussia Dortmund have signed midfielder Jobe Bellingham, 19, from newly promoted Premier League club Sunderland,” the club announced in an official statement.
Jobe has been a key figure in Sunderland's midfield over the past two seasons, making 90 appearances in the Championship and scoring 11 goals.
This acquisition could prove to be a valuable addition for Dortmund as the summer transfer window nears its end, especially ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025. Dortmund have been drawn into Group F, where they will face Fluminense, Ulsan HD, and Mamelodi Sundowns.
The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup will take place in the United States from June 14 to July 13, featuring 32 clubs from six confederations, divided into eight groups.
