Juventus has made a significant move in the 2025 summer transfer window by reaching a personal agreement with Canadian striker Jonathan David. Negotiations progressed rapidly and intensively over the past few days.
The club’s need for a new forward has become increasingly urgent, especially given the uncertainty surrounding Dušan Vlahović’s future. With just one year remaining on his contract and no meaningful progress in extension talks, Juventus has begun to shift focus toward securing a potential replacement.
Keen not to miss out on key opportunities in the market, Juventus has actively monitored several options to bolster their attacking lineup ahead of rival clubs. Among those identified, Jonathan David quickly emerged as a top target.
David’s contract with Lille expires this summer, making him available on a free transfer—an opportunity Juventus was eager to capitalize on to secure a high-quality signing at no transfer fee.
In addition to David, Juventus had also considered Napoli’s Victor Osimhen as an alternative to strengthen their frontline. However, the club ultimately decided to prioritize David.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Juventus has already established contact with the Canadian international and reached a verbal agreement on personal terms.
“Jonathan David to Juventus, here we go! A verbal agreement on all details was reached last night with the Canadian striker. A long-term contract has been agreed upon, and David will soon travel for his medical. The move will then be made official. Contracts are now being finalized and prepared for signing,” Romano reported via X.
This marks a decisive step for Juventus as they begin to reshape their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
