Bayern Munich has reportedly backed away from pursuing VfB Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade after the club placed a steep valuation on the player.
The Bavarian giants had shown strong interest in acquiring Woltemade during the summer transfer window, particularly following his standout performance at the 2025 UEFA European Under-21 Championship. The young striker impressed by finishing as the tournament's top scorer with six goals, although Germany ultimately fell short in the final, losing 3-2 to England U-21.
Despite Germany's runner-up finish, Bayern remained keen on securing Woltemade’s services. However, Stuttgart’s response was to significantly increase the player's price tag, reportedly demanding €100 million a figure that far exceeds his current estimated market value of €30 million, according to Transfermarkt.
This unexpected escalation has complicated matters for Bayern’s Sporting Director, Max Eberl, who is now tempering expectations regarding the potential transfer. According to Sky Sports Germany, Eberl emphasized the importance of remaining level-headed in the situation.
“We’ll have to see what’s possible and reasonable, without getting too emotional,” Eberl stated. “Our aim was to handle this calmly, but that’s no longer feasible. So at this point, I don’t want to set any further expectations.”
Eberl added that Bayern is maintaining open lines of communication with Stuttgart, but admitted uncertainty around how long negotiations might take or whether a deal will eventually materialize.
“I believe everything has been communicated transparently, and now it’s a matter of discussion to see if we can find common ground. How long that will take, I can’t say,” he concluded.
