AC Milan are making a significant move in the transfer market with strong interest in signing Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP. The Swedish striker has emerged as a primary target to bolster the club’s attacking options for the upcoming season.
Gyokeres has been in exceptional form in Portugal, attracting attention from several top European clubs. Among them, Milan are reportedly one of the most serious contenders in the race for his signature.
According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport and SportMediaset, Milan are ready to activate a substantial transfer bid, financed through key player sales. The club is expected to allocate around €70 million for the deal.
Sporting director Igli Tare has confirmed that the Rossoneri are actively pursuing a new striker, and Gyokeres is seen as the ideal fit for the team's tactical vision.
Although the 26-year-old has been linked with several Premier League giants, Milan have emerged as a leading candidate in recent weeks. Sporting CP have set a €100 million release clause for the forward, but it is understood that the player’s agent has agreed to a potential departure for a reduced fee of €70 million this summer.
Milan are taking this opportunity seriously, especially given the urgent need to strengthen their attack following an underwhelming season up front.
The funding for this major acquisition will come from a series of high-profile departures. Tijjani Reijnders is reportedly close to a big-money move to Manchester City. Additionally, Malick Thiaw and Álvaro Morata are expected to join Como in a combined deal worth approximately €40 million. Theo Hernández is also set to transfer to Al Hilal for a reported fee of €30 million.
In total, Milan are projected to generate around €144 million from these sales an amount that would not only cover the cost of signing Gyokeres but also provide room to pursue other key targets in the market.
