Liverpool appears to be on the verge of strengthening their defensive line with the imminent arrival of Bournemouth’s young left-back, Milos Kerkez. The Hungarian international reportedly completed his medical examination in Merseyside on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
This move is part of Liverpool’s broader effort to revamp their left-back position. Andrew Robertson, once a cornerstone of the club’s defense, has seen a noticeable dip in form in recent seasons. Meanwhile, Kostas Tsimikas has struggled to deliver consistent performances, leaving the team vulnerable on the left flank.
In response, Liverpool’s management has prioritized signing a young, dynamic full-back capable of both defending and contributing to the attack. After exploring various options, the club identified Milos Kerkez as their primary target.
The Reds had previously been linked with several potential signings for the left-back role, including Rayan Ait-Nouri, who ultimately joined Manchester City. Shifting their focus, Liverpool zeroed in on Kerkez, drawn by his well-rounded abilities—strong both technically and physically.
Kerkez impressed last season with Bournemouth, demonstrating discipline, consistency, and attacking flair down the left side. His performances did not go unnoticed by Liverpool, who have been actively seeking a long-term solution in that area.
Following detailed negotiations, Liverpool and Bournemouth reached an agreement, settling on a transfer fee of £40 million. Although Bournemouth initially demanded around £45 million, Liverpool’s structured proposal successfully brought both sides to terms.
Kerkez subsequently traveled to Liverpool for his medical evaluation, which was completed without complications. This marks the final step before the official announcement of his transfer.
Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the deal is now complete in all major aspects. An official club statement is expected shortly.
“Milos Kerkez can now be considered a new Liverpool player; the agreement between clubs is in place,” Romano posted on X. “Medical tests completed, contract signed Kerkez joins Liverpool from Bournemouth for £40 million... Here we go, confirmed. Official statement to follow.”
