Harry Kane has reached a major milestone in his career, netting his 400th goal during the highly anticipated Der Klassiker between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.
The historic goal came in the 22nd minute, when Kane headed in a corner from Joshua Kimmich to give Bayern a 1-0 lead. Though he didn’t add to his tally later in the match, Bayern went on to secure a 2-1 victory.
That strike marked Kane’s 22nd goal for club and country this season. He’s been in red-hot form, with 9 of those goals coming in his last five Bundesliga appearances.
Since his move from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023, Kane has racked up an impressive 104 goals in 107 appearances for Bayern. Previously, he scored 208 goals for Spurs, and during his early loan spells, he found the net for Millwall (9), Leyton Orient (5), and Leicester City (2).
Adding it all up including his 76 goals for the England national team Kane now stands at 400 career goals across all competitions.
Interestingly, goal number 400 came while Kane was playing a slightly different role. Rather than leading the line, he played deeper behind Nicolas Jackson, who joined Bayern on loan from Chelsea this summer.
"Maybe a six, eight, or ten," Kane joked to ESPN when asked about his position during the match.
"But I really enjoyed it it's a different side of my game. I know people are used to seeing me as a pure striker who scores goals, but I believe I can contribute in more ways, and today was a great example of that."
"I still got a goal, which is always nice, but it was more about dropping back, making tackles, winning loose balls, and playing passes forward which all went pretty well," he added.
