Aston Villa has announced that away fans from Maccabi Tel Aviv will not be permitted to attend their upcoming UEFA Europa League match at Villa Park. The decision was made based on safety concerns.
The two sides are set to meet on November 6, 2025, for Matchday 4 of the Europa League in Birmingham. However, the game has been classified as a “high-risk” fixture by the Safety Advisory Group (SAG), which has recommended that no away supporters be allowed into the stadium.
The SAG has submitted formal advice to both the club and UEFA, urging that Maccabi Tel Aviv fans not travel to Villa Park, citing public safety and the potential for disorder around the venue.
According to Sky Sports, West Midlands Police expressed concerns to the SAG regarding potential public safety risks, based on intelligence and incidents from past matches.
One incident underlined in the reports was a Europa League clash in 2024 between Ajax and Maccabi Tel Aviv in Amsterdam, where visiting fans clashed with local communities particularly individuals of Turkish, Moroccan, and Arab descent who were protesting with chants of “Free Palestine.”
