Francesco Totti has weighed in on AS Roma impressive start to the 2025/2026 Serie A season, expressing hope that his former club can maintain their momentum.
Under new head coach Gian Piero Gasperini, Roma have won five of their first six league matches, suffering just one defeat. With 15 points on the board, they currently sit second in the Serie A standings level on points with leaders Napoli but trailing on goal difference.
The Giallorossi also boast the league’s best defensive record so far, having conceded just two goals.
Totti believes Roma have what it takes to secure a Champions League spot this season. However, the former club captain stopped short of making any bold predictions about a title run.
“Hopefully they can keep this up all the way,” Totti told Football Italia.
“It’s a long season and we’re still at the beginning, so it’s too early to make any big calls. But if they’re still up there with seven or eight games to go, they can start dreaming.”
“I can say this team has everything it needs to fight for a Champions League place which should be their main objective,” he added.
Up next, Roma face a tough challenge as they host Inter Milan at the Stadio Olimpico after the international break. The match is scheduled for the early hours of Sunday, October 19, 2025.
