Kingsley Coman has officially ended his long chapter with Bayern Munich, just shy of reaching his 100th appearance for the club. Less than a month away from that milestone, the French winger made the surprising decision to leave Europe and join Saudi club Al-Nassr.
Coman spent nearly a decade with the Bavarian giants, collecting an impressive list of honors along the way. From Bundesliga titles and domestic cups to lifting the UEFA Champions League trophy, his time at Bayern was nothing short of decorated.
Over the years, he became a fan favorite and earned the respect of many within the club. However, it turns out that not everyone was keen on keeping him.
In a candid statement, Coman revealed that his departure wasn't entirely his own choice. Internal factors at Bayern played a role in the move.
“There were things at the end of the transfer process which I won’t go into that made the situation more complicated,” said the 28-year-old, as quoted by @iMiaSanMia.
“I wasn’t pushed out, but I was told the club was open to me leaving, partly due to financial reasons,” he added. Coman expressed that he still felt appreciated by the coach, the fans, and some board members.
“But not by everyone,” he emphasized. “There were parts of the club that wanted me gone and that weighed heavily on my mind.”
