Rodrygo’s future was one of the hottest topics in the 2025 summer transfer window. With his minutes on the pitch significantly reduced, speculation grew that the Brazilian winger was no longer a key figure at Real Madrid.
The arrival of new head coach Xabi Alonso only added fuel to the fire. In the club’s first eight matches of the season, Rodrygo featured for just 212 minutes far below expectations for a player of his caliber.
Naturally, top European clubs began to circle. Premier League giants like Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City were all reportedly interested in bringing him in.
Yet, as the window closed, no move materialized. And now, Rodrygo has spoken out making it clear that despite receiving several offers, he never intended to leave Madrid.
In an interview with AS, the 24-year-old confirmed there had indeed been serious interest from other clubs, but he felt much of what was reported in the media had been exaggerated.
“Every summer, it’s the same story,” he said. “Whether I’m leaving, or who’s supposedly made an offer it just keeps coming.”
Rodrygo acknowledged that transfer rumors are part of life at a club like Real Madrid and even joked that the speculation around him has become something of a yearly tradition.
“Of course there are always offers I won’t lie about that,” he added. Still, the forward emphasized that his main focus remains on competing and contributing to the team.
He made it clear: he wants to stay at the Bernabéu. Rodrygo believes he still has a lot more to achieve, both personally and for the club.
“I’ve always told the club I want to keep winning here,” he said. “Winning two Champions League titles at my age is amazing, but I want more. I want more European trophies wearing this shirt.”
Rodrygo also underlined that he’s happy to remain in Madrid for as long as the club wants him. To him, Real Madrid isn’t just a team it’s home.
“I’ve always said: ‘As long as Real Madrid wants me, I’ll stay.’ If one day the club tells me, ‘Rodry, it’s time to move on,’ then I’ll understand. But that hasn’t happened. The message I keep getting is that they believe in me,” he concluded.
