Juventus hasn't given up on the dream of bringing Sandro Tonali back to Serie A. The Newcastle midfielder remains a top target for the Turin-based club as they look to reinforce a midfield that’s still considered lacking in overall depth this season.
While Manuel Locatelli and Khephren Thuram have become key figures in the double pivot, the club feels there’s a noticeable dip in quality when players like Weston McKennie or Teun Koopmeiners step in. That concern has prompted Juventus to start mapping out both short-term and long-term plans.
The Bianconeri could look for a stopgap solution in the January transfer window, or they might wait until summer to pursue a marquee signing that fits their long-term vision. Either way, Tonali’s name remains at the top of their wishlist.
Their interest in Tonali isn’t new. Former sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli had long identified the Italian international as a priority signing. And even though Giuntoli has since moved on, the club's admiration for Tonali hasn’t faded. Juventus executives, including Damien Comolli, are actively keeping tabs on the player’s situation.
Recent reports indicate that Tonali held a meeting with his agent, Beppe Riso, in Milan shortly after arriving in Italy to join the national team training camp in Coverciano. It's believed the conversation touched on his future and potential next steps in his career.
