Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has reaffirmed that Brazilian forward Rodrygo will remain with the club for the upcoming season.
In recent weeks, speculation had intensified regarding Rodrygo’s future at the Santiago Bernabéu, especially after a notable decrease in his playing time last season. The arrival of Kylian Mbappé and the increased competition in the attacking line sparked rumors of a potential summer departure.
However, speaking in a recent press conference, Alonso put those rumors to rest. The Spanish tactician made it clear that Rodrygo is not leaving the club.
“Rodrygo went through a difficult period at the end of last season,” Alonso acknowledged. “But that chapter is behind us now, and it’s time to move forward.”
Alonso revealed that he has held direct talks with Rodrygo to discuss his role and future at the club. According to the coach, the player remains fully committed to Real Madrid.
“From the moment I arrived at the club, I’ve maintained open communication with him. It’s clear to me that he wants to make an impact on the pitch and truly enjoys being part of this team,” Alonso emphasized.
Rodrygo’s decision to stay and fight for his place highlights his determination and belief in contributing to Real Madrid’s continued success under Alonso’s leadership.
