Arsenal have kicked off their Champions League campaign in impressive fashion, and confidence is growing within Mikel Arteta’s squad.
The Gunners secured a solid 2-0 win over Olympiakos on Matchday 2 at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday (Oct 2, 2025), with goals coming from Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka.
With this result, Arsenal have now won both of their opening group stage matches, having already beaten Athletic Bilbao in their first outing. The back-to-back victories have further fueled belief in the team’s potential this season.
“These two wins give us more confidence,” said Martinelli in an interview with the BBC. “We play for Arsenal, and we want to win every game we can. Our goal is to go after every trophy possible.”
Arsenal have added depth and quality to their squad this season, something Martinelli is clearly grateful for. The summer saw the arrivals of Viktor Gyökeres, Eberechi Eze, Martín Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, and goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
“It’s great for the club,” Martinelli added. “We want to have the best players around us, and we really have a strong group. We’re aiming to win everything we can and that’s exactly what we’ll try to do.”
