Napoli captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo offered an honest assessment following his team's 2-1 defeat to AC Milan at San Siro. This marked Napoli’s first loss in the Serie A this season and added more intensity to the race at the top of the table.
Speaking after the match, Di Lorenzo acknowledged that Milan were simply the better team on the night. He pointed out two key areas where the Rossoneri clearly outperformed Napoli.
Beyond the match analysis, the captain also addressed the visible frustration shown by his teammate, Kevin De Bruyne, maintaining a composed and mature perspective in his response.
Di Lorenzo’s comments reflect true leadership he didn’t look for excuses or shy away from responsibility. While Napoli are currently dealing with injury issues, particularly in defense, he refused to blame the defeat on those challenges.
“This was our first loss in the league, and of course it’s disappointing especially considering the difficulties we’re facing at the back,” he told Rai.
“But missing players can’t be an excuse. Injuries are part of every season, and it's up to the rest of the squad to be ready to step in,” the Italy national team captain added.
