Playing at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano on Saturday (September 27, 2025), Atletico struck first through Robin Le Normand in the 14th minute. However, Real Madrid responded quickly with goals from Kylian Mbappe and Arda Guler in the 25th and 36th minutes, turning the game around.
Just before halftime, Alexander Sorloth found the net during stoppage time, leveling the score and swinging the momentum back in Atletico's favor. The second half was all about the home side.
Alvarez added two more goals from set-piece situations, and Antoine Griezmann capped things off with a late strike in injury time. The result lifts Diego Simeone’s team to fourth in the standings with 12 points.
Real Madrid remain top with 18 points, but their lead could be in jeopardy as Barcelona are set to face Real Sociedad on Sunday night at 11:30 PM local time.
