AC Milan cruised into the Round of 16 of the Coppa Italia with a convincing 3-0 victory over Lecce, who were reduced to 10 men early in the game.
The second-round clash took place at the iconic San Siro (Giuseppe Meazza) in the early hours of Wednesday, September 24, 2025. Milan came out firing, with Santiago Gimenez getting two early chances his first was saved by the goalkeeper, and the second flew just over the bar.
Adrien Rabiot also came close in the 9th minute, forcing a solid save from Lecce keeper Christian Früchtl.
The game tilted even further in Milan's favor in the 18th minute when Lecce’s Jamil Siebert was sent off. Initially shown a yellow card for a foul on Christopher Nkunku, the decision was upgraded to a red after a VAR review.
Goal! Just two minutes later, Milan made the most of their advantage. Santiago Gimenez tapped in from close range after a well-placed cross by Davide Bartesaghi.
Rabiot nearly doubled the lead on the half-hour mark, but his powerful effort was denied by the crossbar.
Milan finally got their second in the 51st minute. Christopher Nkunku finished off a pinpoint cross from Alexis Saelemaekers to make it 2-0.
Christian Pulisic sealed the win in the 64th minute, converting Youssouf Fofana’s cross with a tidy finish.
Despite creating more chances, Milan couldn’t add to their tally. Nonetheless, the 3-0 win was more than enough to send the Rossoneri through to the next round, where they’ll face Lazio.
