Borussia Dortmund have moved up to second place in the 2025/26 Bundesliga standings following a narrow 1-0 win over Wolfsburg.
The match, played at Signal Iduna Park in the early hours of Monday, saw Dortmund rely heavily on the pace and creativity of Karim Adeyemi to break down Wolfsburg’s defense.
Adeyemi nearly opened the scoring in just the second minute, but his curling effort drifted just wide of the target.
The breakthrough finally came in the 20th minute. Julian Ryerson played a short pass into the final third, which Adeyemi picked up before firing a low shot from 20 yards out that beat Kamil Grabara in the Wolfsburg goal.
Dortmund had a golden opportunity to double their lead just before halftime, but Maximilian Beier's shot went straight into Grabara’s arms.
Wolfsburg responded after the break and came agonizingly close to an equalizer around the hour mark. Konstantinos Koulierakis unleashed a powerful strike that rattled the crossbar and bounced right on the goal line.
Felix Nmecha also came close for Wolfsburg, getting on the end of a cross with a solid header, but Grabara made a crucial save to keep Dortmund ahead.
In the end, Dortmund held on for the win, securing all three points. The result takes them to 10 points from four matches, just two behind league leaders Bayern Munich.
As for Wolfsburg, their winless run now extends to three games, and they find themselves in 12th place with five points.
