Erling Haaland has broken yet another record in the UEFA Champions League, following Manchester City’s 2-0 win over Napoli at the Etihad Stadium on Friday (September 19, 2025). The Norwegian striker scored one of the goals, marking his 50th in the prestigious competition.
With that goal, Haaland officially becomes the fastest player in history to reach 50 Champions League goals achieving the feat in just 49 appearances. He surpasses legendary strikers like Ruud van Nistelrooy (62 games), Lionel Messi (66), Robert Lewandowski (77), and Kylian Mbappé (79).
Haaland made his Champions League debut goal back in the 2019/2020 season while playing for RB Salzburg. Since then, he’s been consistently prolific, netting 8 goals for Salzburg, 15 during his time at Borussia Dortmund, and now 27 with Manchester City.
This latest milestone also places Haaland in the top 10 all-time Champions League scorers, tying with Thierry Henry. At the top of the list remains Cristiano Ronaldo with 140 goals, followed by Lionel Messi (129), Lewandowski (105), Karim Benzema (90), Raúl (71), Mbappé and Thomas Müller (57), and Van Nistelrooy (56).
