Inter Miami secured a 3-1 win over the Seattle Sounders in their latest MLS clash, with Lionel Messi playing a key role by contributing both a goal and an assist.
The match took place at Chase Stadium on Wednesday morning (September 17, 2025, WIB). Miami took an early lead in the 12th minute when Jordi Alba latched onto a perfectly timed through ball from Messi, drove into the box, and slotted it past Seattle goalkeeper Stefan Frei.
The home side doubled their lead just before halftime in the 41st minute. This time, Alba turned provider, delivering a pinpoint cross from the left that Messi coolly tapped in from close range leaving Frei with no chance. Miami went into the break leading 2-0.
Just seven minutes into the second half, Miami struck again. Ian Fray rose highest to meet Rodrigo De Paul's corner, sending a powerful header into the back of the net to make it 3-0.
Seattle managed to pull one back in the 69th minute. Jordan Morris combined with Albert Rusnak to set up Obed Vargas, who calmly finished past Oscar Ustari to reduce the deficit. However, it was too little, too late, and the match ended 3-1 in favor of Miami.
The win lifts Inter Miami to fifth place in the Eastern Conference with 49 points from 27 matches. It also serves as payback for their 0-3 loss to Seattle in the Leagues Cup final two weeks ago a match that ended in controversy.
As for the Sounders, they remain in fourth place in the Western Conference standings with 45 points from 29 games.
