Despite being left out of Chelsea’s first-team plans, Raheem Sterling appears to be comfortable staying in London. The winger was reportedly on Bayern Munich’s radar at one point but he wasn’t interested in making the move.
As widely reported, Sterling is not part of new Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca’s future plans. Last season, he spent time on loan at Arsenal, but the Gunners opted not to sign him permanently.
According to the Mirror, several Premier League clubs including West Ham and Fulham have shown interest in Sterling. However, his high wages have reportedly been a sticking point.
Sterling currently earns £325,000 per week (around IDR 7.2 billion), and he’s understandably reluctant to take a significant pay cut.
More recently, Bayern Munich explored the possibility of bringing him in while they were also considering a loan move for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson. Sterling was seen as a potential attacking reinforcement especially since Bayern’s manager, Vincent Kompany, once played alongside him at Manchester City.
However, sources suggest Sterling is prioritizing his family’s happiness. It’s believed that his children are settled and happy in London, and for now, he’s willing to stay put even if it means not playing regularly to keep his family rooted.
