Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has revealed that Alejandro Garnacho is not yet fully fit, which explains why the Argentine winger hasn't made his debut for the Blues.
Garnacho joined Chelsea this summer from Manchester United in a late move before the transfer window closed. The Blues paid €46.2 million to bring the 21 year old to Stamford Bridge.
Since arriving, Garnacho has started training with the squad and is now working to build up his fitness and get to know his new teammates.
Speaking to Chelsea's official site, Maresca said that while Garnacho is making good progress, he's not quite ready for competitive action just yet.
"He's working well," Maresca said. "Of course, he still needs time on the training pitch because he arrived not 100 percent fit. But he's putting in the effort, and hopefully soon we’ll be able to give him some minutes."
The Italian manager added that he’s pleased with Garnacho’s attitude and believes it’s only a matter of time before he’s ready to contribute.
