Rasmus Hojlund wasted no time getting started in Naples. The Danish striker immediately joined Napoli training sessions, determined to prove his worth with the reigning Serie A champions.
Fresh off international duty with Denmark where they faced Greece in Piraeus on Monday (Sept 8) Hojlund flew straight to Italy. According to Tuttosport, he left the national team camp right after the match and was already training with Napoli the following afternoon (Sept 9).
The former Atalanta forward was seen putting in the work at Napoli’s Castel Volturno training center. His quick return to club duties reflects his desire to back up his words with action.
In his first interview since joining Napoli, Hojlund made it clear that he's all-in:
"It's definitely different this time. I'm coming in with more experience and I’ve grown as a player. I’ve played in the Premier League, Champions League, Europa League, and across different countries," he told Football Italia.
"There’s still a lot I want to prove. I want to show what I can do at the best team in Italy, and I believe Napoli is going to be something really special."
Hojlund also emphasized his work ethic: "I always give my all. I like to say I’m ready to die on the pitch—fighting for the team, scoring goals, creating chances, and battling for every ball."
Napoli will resume their Serie A campaign this weekend with a trip to face Fiorentina at the Artemio Franchi on Sunday (Sept 14), and Hojlund could make his debut.
He joins Napoli on loan from Manchester United, with an obligation to buy if the club qualifies for next season’s Champions League. The transfer fee is reportedly around €44 million.
Hojlund move comes after finding himself sidelined at United under new boss Ruben Amorim, who brought in attacking reinforcements including Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko. Since arriving at United in 2023, Hojlund has recorded 26 goals and 6 assists in 95 appearances.
