Sergio Ramos has not held back in expressing his admiration for Lamine Yamal. Despite the young talent playing for Barcelona, Ramos acknowledged Yamal’s significant contributions to the Spanish national team.
Yamal has emerged as one of the most exciting young prospects in European football over the past two seasons. Since becoming a regular in the Barcelona first team during the 2023/2024 campaign, the 17-year-old winger has rapidly risen to prominence.
After registering seven goals and nine assists for Barcelona in the 2023/2024 season, Yamal continued to shine on the international stage. He scored once and provided four assists during Euro 2024, playing a pivotal role in helping Spain secure the title.
In the 2024/2025 season, Yamal took his game to new heights. Under the guidance of Hansi Flick at Barcelona, the La Masia graduate delivered an outstanding performance, tallying 18 goals and 25 assists. His contributions were instrumental in Barcelona’s domestic treble—winning LaLiga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.
Former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos, now playing for Mexican club Monterrey, commended Yamal’s breakthrough, calling him a blessing for the national team.
“I always want the national team to succeed. For me, Lamine represents a powerful new reality,” Ramos said, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
“He's breaking records that are unheard of for someone his age. I sincerely wish him all the best, even if he plays for Barça, because above all, I want our national team to perform well,” added the veteran defender.
