AC Milan are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Takehiro Tomiyasu. However, the Rossoneri want to be certain about the Japanese defender's fitness before moving forward with any deal.
Tomiyasu is currently a free agent after parting ways with Arsenal by mutual consent in July. During his four seasons with the Gunners, he made just 84 appearances, with injuries often keeping him on the sidelines.
As a free agent, Tomiyasu isn't restricted by the transfer window, giving him more flexibility in choosing his next club. This opens the door for a potential return to Serie A, with Milan showing interest.
That said, according to Football Italia, Milan are keen to avoid any risks and will only proceed if Tomiyasu proves he's match-fit. The club is cautious after a previous situation involving Nigerian striker Victor Boniface.
Boniface had undergone medical tests with Milan, but the club wasn’t satisfied with the results and decided to pull out of the deal. He eventually returned to Bayer Leverkusen and has since been loaned out to Werder Bremen.
Tomiyasu, of course, is no stranger to Italian football. Before his move to Arsenal, he spent two seasons with Bologna from 2019 to 2021, racking up 61 appearances in Serie A.
