Bayern Munich have officially secured the loan signing of Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea. The Senegalese striker completes his move after a bit of transfer window drama that almost sent him back to London.
The deal was finalized just in time on transfer deadline day, early Tuesday morning (September 2, 2025). Jackson joins Bayern on a season-long loan, with a purchase option included for next year.
His move wasn’t without complications. The 24 year old had already arrived in Germany with his agent on Saturday (August 30), ready to undergo a medical and complete the transfer. Everything seemed on track until Chelsea hit the brakes.
Just as Jackson was about to finalize the move, Chelsea were hit with a striker crisis. Liam Delap picked up an injury against Fulham over the weekend, prompting the club to recall Jackson and reconsider the loan. At one point, Bayern even confirmed that the forward was set to return to England.
Behind the scenes, Chelsea worked quickly to find a solution. The club managed to bring back Marc Guiu from his loan spell at Sunderland, which allowed them to resume talks with Bayern.
Eventually, the two clubs reached an agreement. According to ESPN, Bayern increased their loan fee from €15 million to €16.5 million, and the deal now includes a mandatory purchase clause worth €65 million.
With everything in place, the transfer has been made official. Jackson will spend the season at Bayern Munich on loan.
The move comes after Jackson found himself out of favor at Chelsea, following the arrivals of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap. Manager Enzo Maresca opted to let him leave in search of more playing time.
In his two seasons with Chelsea, Jackson scored 30 goals and provided 12 assists in 81 appearances. He was part of the squad that won both the UEFA Conference League and the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
