Chelsea has reportedly decided to cancel Nicolas Jackson’s loan move to Bayern Munich, as the club faces a striker shortage and now wants to keep the Senegalese forward in the squad.
Jackson had emerged as a summer 2025 target for Bayern, and the player was said to be open to the move, especially after losing his place in the Chelsea starting lineup.
Bayern had already reached personal terms with Jackson and submitted a loan offer worth £13 million to Chelsea. The Blues initially agreed, and Jackson had even flown to Germany for a medical at the Allianz Arena over the weekend.
However, according to the BBC, Chelsea has had a change of heart. Following a hamstring injury to Liam Delap during their 2-0 win over Fulham on Saturday (August 30), the London club now finds itself short on attacking options with only Joao Pedro remaining fit and is looking to keep Jackson.
Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Max Eberl, confirmed Chelsea’s U-turn.
“Chelsea informed us that they want the player back after we had already reached an agreement and received permission for the medical,” Eberl said.
“As it stands, the player is here in Munich and we now have to send him back. That’s the current situation, but I can’t say what the future holds for him,” he added regarding Jackson’s status.
