The Champions League league phase draw has been completed, and former Arsenal star Theo Walcott believes the Gunners came out with a favorable schedule.
The draw took place in Monaco on Thursday evening (August 28, 2025), placing Arsenal in a group alongside Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, Club Brugge, Olympiacos, Slavia Prague, Kairat Almaty, and Athletic Club.
Walcott, who spent over a decade with the North London side, shared his thoughts on the outcome and feels Arsenal got a good deal especially when it comes to travel demands.
"I'm really pleased with Arsenal’s fixture list," said Walcott. "They won’t have to travel too far for their away games, which I think is a big plus when balancing European competition with the domestic schedule."
After reaching the semifinals last season, Arsenal head into this year’s Champions League campaign with renewed ambition. Walcott is optimistic about their chances.
The Gunners have also made some strong signings this summer, bringing in Viktor Gyökeres, Martín Zubimendi, and Eberechi Eze to strengthen the squad.
“I think the competitive edge they’ve got now the hunger, the desire, the fight that’s what sets them apart this season," Walcott added. "And the signing of Viktor Gyökeres, in particular, feels like the missing piece of the puzzle.”
