Newcastle United are still actively on the hunt for a new striker, and their latest target is Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Jorgen Strand Larsen.
With the ongoing transfer saga surrounding Alexander Isak still unresolved, the Magpies are preparing for life without the Swedish striker. Isak is reportedly determined to join Liverpool his preferred destination and is no longer interested in continuing at Newcastle.
The club, however, remains firm on keeping Isak at least until they secure not just one, but two new strikers, especially with Callum Wilson also nearing the end of his contract this summer.
The challenge? Most of Newcastle’s striker pursuits have hit roadblocks. Even players willing to make the move, like Brentford’s Yoane Wissa, are being held back by clubs demanding steep fees.
Now, Newcastle have turned their attention to Wolves’ Jorgen Strand Larsen. According to Sky Sports, the Magpies have already submitted two bids latest being £55 million but both have been turned down. Wolves have stated that Strand Larsen is not for sale, though many believe this might just be a negotiation tactic.
Reportedly, Wolves would consider letting him go for around £60 million only a £5 million gap from Newcastle’s current offer. Strand Larsen is also said to be open to a move, especially with Newcastle set to play in the Champions League this season.
"As of now, Jorgen is still our player. Let’s see what happens," said Wolves manager Vitor Pereira. "I understand how football works every player has a price, even Messi or Cristiano. But for me, Jorgen is a very important player. We'll see how things unfold."
The Norwegian forward has had a strong season with Wolves, scoring 16 goals and providing 5 assists in 41 appearances.
