There’s been a fresh development regarding Rodrygo Goes’ future at Real Madrid. Contrary to recent speculation, the Brazilian forward is now expected to stay at the club through the summer transfer window.
Following the FIFA Club World Cup, rumors had been swirling that Rodrygo was on his way out of the Spanish capital. Reports suggested he didn’t feature in Xabi Alonso’s long-term plans for Los Blancos.
Several top European clubs, including some Premier League giants, were said to be monitoring the situation and considering a move for the 23 year old.
However, according to Marca, that narrative has now changed. Real Madrid are reportedly no longer looking to part ways with Rodrygo.
In fact, the report claims that Alonso never truly intended to sell him. The Spanish coach views Rodrygo as a versatile attacker someone capable of playing across multiple positions in the front line.
Alonso believes that kind of flexibility will be crucial heading into the 2025/26 campaign, and that’s why the club has ultimately decided to keep him.
This stance became even clearer in Real Madrid’s latest pre-season friendly against Real Oviedo. Rodrygo featured in the match, and although he didn’t play the full 90 minutes, his inclusion signals trust from Alonso and hints at more playing time ahead.
Meanwhile, interested clubs reportedly ran into difficulties during early negotiations largely due to Madrid’s high valuation of the player. The club is said to have set Rodrygo’s price tag at around €100 million, which likely discouraged potential buyers.
