Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly eyeing Justin Kluivert as a potential replacement for Florian Wirtz, who is on the verge of joining Liverpool. According to reports, Wirtz has reached an agreement to leave Leverkusen for Anfield, with the Premier League club prepared to pay €116.5 million for the German international.
In anticipation of Wirtz’s departure, Leverkusen are moving swiftly to secure a successor. The club has identified Kluivert as a suitable candidate to fill the attacking midfielder role, a recommendation reportedly backed by newly appointed head coach Erik ten Hag.
Talks have already been initiated between Leverkusen and Kluivert’s current club, AFC Bournemouth. However, securing the Dutchman's signature is expected to be a significant challenge.
Bournemouth are not keen on parting ways with Kluivert, who remains under contract at Vitality Stadium until 2028 and does not have a release clause. The 25-year-old has become a key figure in the squad, contributing 13 goals and eight assists in the 2024/2025 season.
Kluivert has revitalized his career in the Premier League after a difficult spell at AS Roma. Bournemouth signed him for just €10 million in 2023, and his market value has since surged to approximately €35 million.
Justin Kluivert, the son of Indonesia national team head coach Patrick Kluivert, is now regarded as one of the most valuable assets in Bournemouth’s squad.
