Marcus Rashford has set his sights on helping Barcelona raise the bar this season, with a particular focus on winning the UEFA Champions League. The English forward joined Barça on a season long loan from Manchester United and is expected to provide strong competition for Raphinha on the left flank.
After sweeping all the domestic trophies last season, including LaLiga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup, Barcelona is now targeting European success. The club hasn’t lifted the Champions League trophy since the 2014/2015 season a drought Rashford is eager to end.
“Everyone wants to win the Champions League,” Rashford told Mundo Deportivo. “Last season the team had a fantastic run, and now the goal is to repeat that and take it a step further by winning in Europe.”
“There’s a lot of talent in this squad, but I already knew that before I arrived. The quality is top-level, and so is the intensity and that’s exactly what we need to maintain throughout the season,” he added.
Barcelona came close to a perfect campaign last year, but their Champions League journey ended in heartbreak after a dramatic extra-time defeat to Inter Milan. Rashford now hopes to be a key piece in the club’s quest to go all the way this time around.
