Real Madrid has been active in the transfer market in recent weeks, securing the signings of Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold to bolster Xabi Alonso’s squad.
Another addition is expected soon, although the player in question may not officially join the club until next year.
Recent reports indicate that Real Madrid has reached an agreement with River Plate to sign highly rated 17-year-old midfielder Franco Mastantuono. Initially, there was hope that Mastantuono would be available to participate in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup with Los Blancos. However, it has now been confirmed that he will not feature in the tournament.
The current plan is for Mastantuono to join Madrid once he turns 18 later this summer. Nevertheless, despite the agreement—confirmed by renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano—there is a possibility that the young Argentine will not complete his move to the Spanish capital until 2026.
According to Diario AS, River Plate is keen to retain Mastantuono until the conclusion of their domestic season, which could extend into November or December should the club progress to the final of the Copa Libertadores.
The Argentine side is reportedly preparing to approach both the player and Real Madrid in an effort to persuade them to agree to this extended timeline.
