Luis Diaz isn’t too concerned about settling into life at Bayern Munich or adapting to the Bundesliga. The Colombian winger has already received valuable insights from Florian Wirtz to help ease the transition.
Diaz officially completed his move to Bayern just two days ago, joining from Liverpool in a €75 million deal. He signed a four-year contract and is expected to earn between €240,000 and €260,000 per week.
At Bayern, Diaz is set to become a key figure on the left wing an area previously occupied by Leroy Sané or Serge Gnabry. With Sané departing and Gnabry’s form dipping, Diaz has been brought in to bolster the attack.
Naturally, both the club and fans will need to be patient as Diaz adjusts to the nuances of German football. Still, the 27-year-old is confident he’ll adapt quickly.
One reason for that confidence is the advice he’s received from Florian Wirtz, the former Bayer Leverkusen star who recently joined Liverpool. The two spent time together during preseason training and on the club's tour of Asia.
“I spoke with Florian a few times, and he told me the Bundesliga is very intense just like the Premier League. It demands a lot physically, and the stadiums are always packed,” Diaz told France24.
“He said I’d enjoy it here. He wished me all the best, and I really appreciate that.”
