The future of Vinicius Junior at Real Madrid is once again under the spotlight even though his current contract still runs for another two years.
The Brazilian winger has attracted interest from several clubs in Saudi Arabia, but he’s made it clear on multiple occasions that he wants to stay in Madrid.
Despite those statements, no concrete steps have been taken, and negotiations for a contract extension have come to a standstill.
As of now, there’s still no agreement between Vinicius’ camp and the club’s management, fueling speculation about a possible departure.
According to a report from Defensa Central, the main roadblock in the talks is Vinicius’ request for a significant bonus. He’s reportedly asking for a salary package worth €30 million per year on par with what Kylian Mbappé is earning after joining on a free transfer. Vinicius believes his contributions to the team merit similar compensation.
However, club president Florentino Perez doesn’t share that view. He believes the figure is too high, especially considering Vinicius is still under contract.
While the club hasn’t agreed to his demands, they remain committed to keeping him. Real Madrid is reportedly willing to offer him the highest salary currently available within the squad.
The club is also planning a direct meeting with Vinicius to have an open discussion about his future. In the meantime, they hope he can rediscover the top form he showed during the 2023/2024 season.
