AS Roma’s new signing Evan Ferguson made an unforgettable debut, netting four goals in a dominant preseason performance. The Irish striker was the standout star as the Giallorossi cruised to a 9-0 win over UniPomezia.
This was Roma’s second preseason friendly and served as the perfect stage for new arrivals to showcase their talent. Ferguson didn’t waste any time he bagged a hat-trick within the first 24 minutes and added a fourth goal just after the hour mark. He also set up a goal for Paulo Dybala, capping off a dream debut.
Midfielder Neil El Aynaoui, another recent recruit, also got on the scoresheet, providing a promising sign for head coach Gian Piero Gasperini as he looks to integrate fresh faces into the squad.
The dominant win showed Roma’s preseason momentum is building fast. New players seemed to slot seamlessly into Gasperini’s 3-4-2-1 setup, which proved highly effective against the recently promoted Serie D side.
Ferguson led the line with Dybala and Matias Soulé supporting from just behind, and the attacking trio clicked instantly. Roma’s offense looked fluid and dangerous throughout the match.
Zeki Celik, Tommaso Baldanzi, and youngster Antonio Arena also contributed goals, rounding off a complete team performance.
Ferguson’s explosive debut certainly helps justify his price tag. Roma paid €3 million to secure him on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion, with an option to buy for €38 million at the end of the season.
