Eintracht Frankfurt has expressed its satisfaction over Hugo Ekitike’s transfer to a top-tier club like Liverpool. The German club wished the young forward all the best in the next chapter of his career.
Ekitike was officially announced as a Liverpool player in the early hours of Thursday, July 24, 2025 (local time), after completing a £69 million transfer from Frankfurt an amount that could rise to £79 million (€90 million) with performance-related bonuses.
Following his medical and contract signing, Ekitike immediately flew to Hong Kong to join his new teammates for Liverpool’s ongoing preseason tour.
For Frankfurt, Ekitike’s departure marks another major success in the transfer market, particularly among attacking players. The French striker is now the club’s second-highest outgoing transfer after Randal Kolo Muani’s €95 million move to Paris Saint-Germain in 2023.
Frankfurt sees Liverpool especially under the leadership of Arne Slot, fresh off a Premier League title as an ideal environment for Ekitike’s continued development.
“It’s a fantastic story for both Hugo and Eintracht Frankfurt,” said Sporting Director Markus Krösche in a statement to ESPN. “He’s joining one of the world’s elite clubs, full of ambition and with real potential to win major trophies.”
“Hugo deserves this move. It’s also a sign that Frankfurt can be a place where talented players grow and take the next big step in their careers.”
